NEW LETTER (Aug 5)
A Wedding in Main Meadow....

Hi Toad.
We wanted to let everyone know that Joe's bike has been found. Mike Klinginsmith (one of the local forest rangers) called us tonight. The bike is currently waiting for us in Rutland. Thank you Steve from the Welcome Home kitchen for the tip that sent us looking in the right direction.
We also wanted to say thanks again to everyone for being a part of our wonderful wedding day! Special thanks to Teri for performing such a beautiful ceremony, and to Rob for video taping (can't wait to see it!). Special thanks also to Jesse and crew for building the Gazebo , to Lincoln for the fire, and to all the drummers who made such beautiful Music after the ceremony. Thank you, Joan for the gift, and Donna for the bottle of Mead she sent home with us. Thank you also, Sister Wolf (Did I get the name right?) for taking photos. Thanks to the brother who said the beautiful words as an additional blessing( Does anyone know his name so that we can thank him personally?).Thank you Rythm and Lincoln for blowing the conch. And thank you Rythm for the later gift, it was SO good of you! If I have forgotten anyone, sorry, there were so many wonderful people there. Thanks for all the wonderful hugs! No one could possibly have had a sweeter, more meaningful ceremony.
I am attaching a few of the wedding pics for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy, we certainly did! If anyone would like to keep in touch, my email is cfregoe61@hotmail.com. Looking forward to hearing from folks.
LOVING YOU!,
JOE and CAROL

KARIN'S ACCOUNT OF THIS YEARS RAINBOW GATHERING IN WYOMING LINK HERE!

(update Aug 6)NERF 20th Anniversary gathering in The GREEN Mtns a huge success by most accounts..
Love & All Good Things...
GREG'S REVIEW:
WOW! So 20 YEARS!
I've experienced 17 of them, and I wouldn't trade em for anything in the world.
20 years. That's a lot of love affairs, a lot of brothers and sisters barefooting on Mother Earth, a lot of prayers for peace, a lot of campfires, sharing, food of all descriptions, and an ocean of "days between".
For those who couldn't make it, here's one persons observations of
the NERF regional in Granville VT, at the sweetest gathering site we ever found. Weather was mixed. Most days had a more or less brief rain shower. Commonly, early mornings were foggy and cool, then the sun would blaze through till late afternoon, then a shower, then a cool evening that got slightly chilly in the wee hours. Wednesday night saw an intense and beautiful electrical storm at night. The second Saturday was the rainiest day, which I think reduced the influx of Rainbows.
Attendance was somewhere around 200 for the first few days, peaking out around 300 on Thursday and the 2nd Friday. Lots of pleasant surprises as to those who showed up for this one.
The supply road from front gate to Nerf Kitchen was muddy and occasionally treacherous, with a couple partial washouts that was not kind to vehicles. In fact, one damaged vehicle needed to be pushed out, but has since been repaired, and is now fine.
Nerf kitchen was large and cozy with a Kiddie Village section. Food was plentiful. It was a well-fed gathering. In fact, surprisingly, there were nights when most everyone was full, and yet there was still food. One night serving Main Meadow, there was a delicious and unusual lasagna, that lasted beyond second helpings, and repeated
calls to take the last servings to finish off the trays. There was a pleasant mixture of varied cooks, some new, some old. Good kind energy, and lots of cooperation. There was a busy oven that went into high gear on Wednesday night for a pizza movie. There was more pizza than people could eat.
On Tuesday afternoon there was a wedding in Main Meadow. On Wednesday & Thursday, birthdays were celebrated for Dee and Rythom. Some large and very intense cakes appeared for these celebrations. Friday at dark thirty there was a talent show outside Nerf kitchen on a beautiful stage with a blazing bliss pit.
A-camp held a memorial for Little Hawk. A-camp was small, friendly, fairly clean, and saw little incident.
The gathering as a whole was light on agro and/or problems. A permit was signed by five people after a couple councils. Permit signing
always causes grumbling, and some of the permit content was brow raising. As usual, Vermont Forest Service were friendly and easy to get along with. Sanitary conditions in the kitchen came into question,
but as far as I could tell, people generally remained healthy. There were minor parking complaints, but no problems. CALM remained basically calm, no dire emergencies. All in all, things went well.
Trash and recycling also went well. Seven 55-gallon bags, 2 trash and the rest recycling, were delivered smoothly to S Royalton. Personally, most importantly for Driftwood and I, it was babies first gathering. She loved it. It was really great for her (and us). Lots of kids, and very sweet and appreciated energies from other parents. The adage
"It takes a village to raise a child" lost nothing here. I'm sure I missed plenty, but this is at least a snapshot.

THE THIRD CONSENSUS (from tg council 07) : in response to a discussion about what constitutes a "NERF" kitchen*....
*If NERF kitchen equipment and money from the NERF bank is being used to create a kitchen... it's a NERF kitchen. Or to put it another way...
"If the Nerf kitchen goes to a gathering, then the name of that kitchen is Nerf"..
