Welcome Home Council Sets Scouting Adjenda.
(Toad) Elders sat in council and passed a feather over the Thanksgiving weekend in West Virginia. Scouts from the North East, South East will continue scouting various sites on the East Coast. The scouts will look for camping areas which will suit the needs of the annual gathering of tribes this summer. Notes will be compared and sites narrowed down when the scouts gather again in early April. Folks mentioned the idea of visiting merchants and locals in communities near the gathering to show them we come in peace and to help them understand the financial benefits that come with the arrival of thousands of people seeking to spend money on supplies and services in their communities. PERCEPTIONS ON THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE'S DAY NERF COUNCIL
(Religulous III) The Indigenous Peoples Day (Columbus day) weekend Council in Vermont on Oct. 9-12, 2009 happened There are reports that 10 folks made the scene and two folks couldn't find the scene. Rumor has it that this council decided that the traditional NERF Thanksgiving council is not happening. Did they come up with a time and a place for the next nerf council? Stay tunned for more information about this council, maybe.

Mt. Moosilauke Regional is history

Regional from Fri August 21 to Sun Aug 30
is over and clean-up was completed.

Folks from the northeast gathered north of Mount Moosilauke in the White Mountains of New Hampshire this past week. Several kitchens made the scene in addition to NERF. The first kitchen to arrive was Max's Corner. It was named after one of the kitchen's dogs. One brother noted, "They cook a lot of meat and are quite militant about it. Beans and weinies was the menu many nights" Welcome Home also prepared some food and there was, Tea in the Woods or something like that. These kitchens provided daily meals and special treats. Some local family prepared foods at home to share at the circle. An oven was constructed at Nerf and pizza was made. There was plenty of food. Several healers were on hand to provide an "on call" CALM. There was a great talent show produced and hosted by a couple of talented young performers and co-hosted by Harmonica Tom. Harmonicas, guitars, banjos, fiddles, mandolins, fluets and of course, drums played sweet music at this event and dancers danced. The weather in the mountains was wet, sunny, cloudy, humid, cool and windy. The water system was very good. There was a memorial circle to honor Frank, the herbalist, who just passed away. One highlight for many was the arrival of Estar and Grampa Woodstock.

Since the 2010 Annual Gathering of the Tribes will be held in one of the eastern states, there was a council at this gathering where folks began discussing the return of the Gathering to the northeast. One sister said about this council, "The vibe of the council felt positive, respectful, and educational." An Annual was held in Vermont in 1991 and in Pennsylvania in 1999. Then next council was set for October on Columbus day Weekend at a location to be named when we find out.

SCOUTS SEE MOUNT MOOSILAUKE AS VIABLE REGIONAL SITE
Mount Moosilauke
July 4th: Several Nerf Scouts found that the Mount Mossilauke area in the White Mountains of New Hampshire could be used as a place to hold a regional gathering.

The scouts joined hands at noon on the forth in the spirit of peace and healing with our brothers and sisters in New Mexico. Later folks scouted the cart road and found a meadow which was used as the main meadow at a gathering on the site some years ago.

There is room for kitchens and camping. There is water, parking, and firewood.

A council of Nerflings consented to holding a NERF regional from Fri August 21 to Sun Aug 30, 2009 at a place to be determined by scouts.

THE THIRD CONSENSUS (from tg council 07) : in response to a discussion about what constitutes a "NERF" kitchen*....
*If NERF kitchen equipment and money from the NERF bank is being used to create a kitchen... it's a NERF kitchen. Or to put it another way...
"If the Nerf kitchen goes to a gathering, then the name of that kitchen is Nerf"..
